Mahogany and Gold Sandwiched Wedding Ring
June 2008
Mahogany, 14 karat yellow gold
For my friend Matt's wedding, we came up with this ring of two pieces of 14K yellow gold sandwiching a piece of mahogany. The whole assembly is riveted together in the four corners—the ring is completely cold-forged; no torch or bonding agent was used in the process. Matt and his wife Michelle actually picked the wood themselves, which lends a very personal quality to the ring. Viewing the ring from the side, you can more clearly see the rivets and the rounded-square shape of the ring.
