Wedding Bouquet Brooch
September 2014
10 karat rose gold
A client came to me looking for a 10th anniversary present for his wife, and wanted to use her wedding bouquet as inspiration. When they got married, she kept her bouquet and hung it up over their wedding picture. Sadly, the flowers were destroyed several years later while they were moving house. As beautiful as the original was, we simplified the recreation by choosing four flowers from it to represent the two of them and their two children, to celebrate how their family had grown in the past decade.
Clockwise from top left the flowers are Gerber daisy, rose, calla lily and primrose. The textured background is actually an abstract visualization of a picture of baby's breath (common in many flower arrangements but not actually present in the source flora), and the ribbon shape encompassing the piece echoes the ribbon that ran through her bouquet.
